Launch of Fabrication Factory at Forbes Marshall Chakan facility, Pune
On 23 Oct, the auspicious Dussehra puja day, our much awaited state of the art Fabrication Factory was inaugurated. To grace this occasion, Shri D P Anatpurkar Director of Steam Boilers of Maharashtra and his colleagues from Mumbai & Pune offices were present. Farhad, Naushad, Datta, Kiran Vohra, Viru Gill, Mateesh, and Uma along with the guests inaugurated the facility.
The entire layout of the fabrication factory is of a ‘U’ shape starting with an automatic pipe dispensing system and completing with end of line packaging thus raw material to finished goods.
The fabrication Factory has modern & sophisticated machinery to manufacture high quality and robust fabricated products. This includes,
1. India’s largest laser pipe cutting machine for precise & accurate cutting, beveling and profile cutting of pipe spools with superior surface finish, for 30 mm to 630 mm diameter pipes.
2. Automated and programmable pipe dispensing machine, for systematic and planned supply of pipes for laser cutting.
3. Flange manufacturing cell with state-of-the-art CNC Machining centres, CNC Peen Marking System, connected with Industry 4.0 Architecture for manufacturing of IBR and Non-IBR Flanges from 15 NB to 400 NB size flanges.
4. CNC Hydraulic Tube Bending Machine, for cold bending of pipes from 30 NB to 100 NB sizes and table top benders for 15-25 NB Pipe sizes.
5. Automated robotic welding stations with online & offline laser sensing, through arc sensing and touch sensing mechanisms for highly accurate welding of various joints.
6. High Quality, welding power sources for highly controlled and spatter less welding processes.
7. Fully Automated, Industry 4.0 Hydrostatic Test Stations with traceability & POKA YOKE for accurate testing of products, as per FM’s testing procedure.
8. Fully Automated, Industry 4.0 Functional Test Stations with traceability, POKA YOKE and end of the line primary packaging of our fabricated products.
Our members are well trained and qualified for various codes and with hands-on experience in robotic welding. We have our own shot blasting and painting facility to cater for the high standards of the painting process for perfect finishing, the highest surface purity and long life. We have used Continuous Single Piece flow methodology, coupled with Industry 4.0 Equipments for Digital POKA YOKE, and a combination of Product and Process layout, for delivering high quality robust products to our esteemed customers.
Thus once a messy, one-off and largely outsourced business has been brought completely in-house, with a firm grasp on quality, efficiency and cleanliness. The fab factory is capable of producing Pump or FJP or PRS in a flat for one week with its facility.
The cross functional efforts of Corporate Engg, NPI, Manufacturing, IBR, Central projects procurement, Engg, Facilities & Quality teams made this happen.
