FM-CII AA success story of Aparna WaghmareHi! I am Aparna Waghmare, an alumnus of the CII-FM Affirmative Action Training Programme, Batch-32.

Stepping out of your comfort zone is never easy, but that is often where real growth begins.

After graduating in Chemical Engineering, I started my career as a Sales and Proposal Engineer at Attaquant Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. Although it was a good beginning, I wanted to strengthen my technical knowledge and gain deeper industrial exposure.

When my father suggested the CII-Forbes Marshall Affirmative Action Training Programme, I knew it could be a turning point in my career. Transitioning from chemical engineering to a specialized instrumentation course meant leaving my job and taking a leap of faith. With the valuable guidance of Mr. Dhamankar Sir, I decided to embrace the opportunity and joined CII-FM Batch-32(Inst).

The programme was truly transformative. The combination of in-depth technical sessions and hands-on practical training helped bridge the gap between classroom learning and real industrial applications. Beyond technical knowledge, the programme focused on overall personality development through SWOT analysis, interview preparation, communication skills, and continuous assessments that challenged us to perform our best.

One of the greatest strengths of the programme was the friendships and professional network I built. Learning alongside supportive peers made every challenge easier and every success more meaningful. Together, we shared knowledge, solved technical problems, motivated one another, and grew both professionally and personally.

Determined to make the most of this opportunity, I also completed the extended learning phase in the Analytical Division under the guidance of Mr. Shantanu Chaudhary Sir. During this period, I worked on studying industrial effluent treatment processes using analytical measurements to improve operational efficiency. The project also gave me the opportunity to visit three different industrial sites, providing valuable practical exposure.

Through dedication, hard work, and a passion for learning, I graduated as one of the Top 5 performers of CII-FM Batch-32.

This strong foundation led to my first interview with the Energy Service Division (ESD), where the encouragement and support of Mr. Satyadev Purohit and Mr. Anand Iyer played an important role in the beginning of my professional journey.

Today, I have completed 3.7 rewarding years as an Energy Auditor in ESD. Under the mentorship of my HOD, Mr. R. Mylsammy, I have had the opportunity to work on challenging projects and deliver meaningful value to customers.

This role has taken me to diverse industries across different cities, giving me invaluable international exposure. Every project has strengthened my technical expertise, boosted my confidence, and broadened my perspective as an engineer.

Looking back, choosing the CII-FM training was one of the most important decisions of my career. It gave me the knowledge, confidence, and opportunities that shaped who I am today.

I sincerely thank Forbes Marshall, Mr. Dhamankar Sir and all my mentors for believing in my potential and supporting me throughout this incredible journey.

It’s continuous learning, embracing challenges, and never being afraid to step outside your comfort zone.
