Reducing operating costs with Flash Steam Recovery and Utilisation at an aseptic manufacturer in Vietnam
Problems Faced
Unable to achieve flash steam recovery and proper utilisation
Case Details and Solutions
The Forbes Marshall team found out that the flash steam was vented out into the atmosphere via an exhaust vent pipe of the header of Steam operated pump traps.
The following solutions were implemented:
- The plant condensate was collected into a flash vessel.
- The flash steam recovered from the flash vessel was then supplied to HEATMAX, a PHE based instantaneous hot water generation system to heat process water.
- The condensate water from the flash vessel and the flash steam condensed after the PHE was then routed to the Steam operated pump trap.
Results Achieved / Benefits:
The average flash steam recovered from the condensate was about 209 kg/hr as against the commitment of 150kg/hr by the Forbes Marshall steam.
