MCCIA-Rotary honour for Forbes Marshall

Recognising the need to promote a better employer-employee relationship, the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) in association with the Rotary Club of Poona West have instituted the Best Human Response Awards to medium and large-scale industries in Pune region from 2009-10.

The two Pune industries to bag the award in its first year are Kirloskar Oil Engines Pvt Ltd in the large-scale and Forbes Marshall in the medium-scale sectors. While Kirloskar Oil Engines is headed by CMD Atul Kirloskar, Naushad Forbes is the director of Forbes Marshall.

“The objective of this award is to encourage and promote a better employer-employee relationship and good ethical practices among companies. It focuses on how they dealt with the downturn, whether they succumb to strikes or how they manage relations with their employees?” said Anant Sardeshmukh, the additional director general of MCCIA. He said, “The awards will promote high ethical HR practices, which would generate conducive employee response not only in Pune region but across Maharashtra.” “We also believe this will promote healthy industrial growth and prosperity to its constituents,” added Sardeshmukh.

The awards would be presented on June 29 at the Sumant Mulgaonkar Auditorium in ICC Trade Tower. The other recipients of this year’s awards are additional commissioner of labour (Pune) DP Pagar, former editor of Sakal Yamaji Malkar, Deccan Management Consultant’s Satish Koushik, advocate Rajesh Shaligram and Sardeshmukh himself. The award winning industries will be making short presentations on their best HR practices at the function.
